Claude Searched 1.9 Billion Protein Clusters and Found an Enzyme System Nobody Had Described
Anthropic says Claude autonomously found a previously undescribed enzyme system in bacteriophage DNA, which it calls array-associated reverse transcriptases. The run took 21.5 hours across 949 agent sessions and 215.6 million tokens. What the system does is still unknown.
